LILLIAN AXE Guitarist Talks About Louisiana Music Hall Of Fame Induction, Forthcoming Album

May 14, 2010

LILLIAN AXE's Derrick LeFevre (vocals),Steve Blaze (guitar),Sam Poitevent (guitar),Eric Morris (bass) and Ken Koudelka (drums) will be inducted as the first hard rock band in the Louisiana Music Hall Of Fame. LILLIAN AXE will forever be remembered alongside such greats as Fats Domino, Buddy Guy, Louis Armstrong, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard and Allen Toussaint, to name a few.

"I've always felt that not enough attention has been given to the rock bands," leader Blaze tells TheNewsStar.com. "It's always gone to the traditional Louisiana styles of music — R&B, jazz, zydeco, all the things that were tourist-friendly. To be in that group with guys like Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino, Little Richard, it validates hard rock music more than anything. Hopefully after this more of the rock bands will get a shot."

LILLIAN AXE has begun recording its tenth album, "Deep Red Shadows", at Sound Landing Studios for a July 20 release via Love & War Records. The CD is being produced by guitarist Steve Blaze and will be mastered by Ty Tabor of KING'S X, who will also make a special guest appearance on the album.

"The new songs are kind of brooding and heavy with gothic melodic overtones," Blaze says. "I wanted to do some things a little differently than we've done in the past, but it's still powerful and dramatic with a lot of big melodies and harmonies. It's some of the best stuff we've done in a long time."
